We sent our newest member of the MotoUSA testing department to have a day with the Kawasaki crew. The boys and girls in Green rolled out a full stable of their new entry-level machine, the KLX140 and KLX140L. Read the report.

Good write-up!  I've read such things on other bikes..and they sound more like factory ads..right out of some brochure.

This one has the facts and pertinent, worthwhile rider impressions.

Thanks!  I wanna go BUY one!!yeah

Does it have a kickstarter?  Or only the 'button'?  If no kickstart, then #1 BOOOOOO!!!  #2 Why?

I've found the 'button' on my KLX450R is sometimes 'battery impaired'....good thing the kickstarter works, cuz bump'n cold, or in a nasty rut is impossible.  Granted...a mini can be picked up by most adult males and bump'd about anywhere...but can most 14yr olds?  It's the only thing that keeps me from ordering one now.  Good lookin bike, wish it had an option for an adjustable fork. "-)

From the article:

'You won't find the nostalgic kickstart on the 140...'

This KLX looks sweet but I need a kickstarter. I just picked up a Yam TTr125 (which interestingly the article does not mention, it only mentions the smaller TTr110) that has a kickstarter. There are no power outlets where I'm keeping the bike, and I do not want to keep pulling the battery and taking it home with me to charge. Plus the bike (kick start only) weighs in at only 175 lbs vs the 190 of the KLX.
It also cost me $2100 OTD vs the $2999 msrp of the KLX...
I'm sure the KLX is 'more' bike, but the lack of a kickstarter is a deal killer for me.

I got this bike a few months ago, and so far I'm happy with it. I can keep up with my friend's kx85 easily and I can stick around with my other friend's crf150r. It handles fine at the motocross track, but I'm really happy how it handles in trails. I tried riding the 85 and 150r in the woods and the stiff suspension really beat me up. I like how the klx140l has the adjustable suspension, it makes it easy for me to go from the motocross track to the trails.
