After all these new '08 bikes popping up.  Comes the question to some of the others, like how many have a sportbike that is as dated as my '03 Honda 954 & are feeling like you a riding a 'vintage' m/c????

And KTM says ready to race --- they don't put out any substandard stuff for lightweights (I'd say for posers but I'm being nice today :-) ) Doesn't mean you have to race, but it still works when needed.

Im liking it. Now that it looks like Suzuki isnt making the SV1K anymore, this might just do instead.

Wow, something is really lighting the fire under KTM of late- They've been kicking ass in the off-road ranks for years but lately they are really attacking just about every powersport under the sun.  Race cars, ATV's, Crotch Rockets, mountain bikes- impressive!

Everything that comes from KTM is exciting and original.  I'm sure that this bike will be no exception.

However, I think that the Duke 690 will be even better (in its segment) than the bike mentioned in this article.  It weighs 325 pounds and makes 66hp.  So basically, its a 250Ninja with an extra (weightless) engine.  That's pretty awesome.  It even has a slipper clutch and brembo brakes.

I'm sure this is an impressive bike.  You don't have to look too hard to see fugly though... You just have to not like what you see.  I'll just bet the Buell is an impressive bike too.  Different strokes for different folks.  BTW - nice exhaust KTM

I expect KTM to produce ugly bikes...that's part of their appeal.

Drool.  Cannot wait for the ride report on this bad boy.  KTM has really been getting it right in everything the make the past few years.  I have a 200XC in the garage and I can easily see a Super Duke 990 or a 1190 next to it.

Hey, watch this...

I kind of like the profile even though the angular look is a bit disconcerting. I really don't like the look of it from the front! Ack! Still it's great to see KTM getting into this realm of motorsports. ;-)

EEEEWWWW!!!!! Given KTM's recent bikes it will probably be a great performer but it looks terrible. Has anyone told KTM it isn't 1985 anymore and people like their bikes and their cars with some curves?

KTM (And others, Aprilia, Ducati, actually a pretty long list) is about max function and producing product at the cutting edge of performance. To enthusiasts that are striving for that, KTM looks fantastic. A package with the goods, and as a package, it is a lower cost than an individual putting the items together themselves.

KTM isn't for everyone (thank God)

True this is an exciting looking bike & knowing the reputation of KTM when it came to the Paris to Dakar-------well you really have a pretty good piece of machinery for the paved roads.

Still this bit reading "--they want the RC8 to be affordable for the general public. Whether Austrian notions of affordability conform to those of your regular Yankee remains to be seen.--" can be a big factor when it comes to who will buy the bike for the price might be out of reach to many of us.

Funny thing is I was showing the two prints of the bike to a fellow rider who commented on the lousy print of the rear section of the bike till I pointed out the line about adjustable.  So we both had a good laugh out of that.

A thing I feel, is that all makers that are tucking the exhaust system under the power-plant or well away THIS can also mean when buying a sportbike you do not HAVE TO buy an aftermarket can to make it more powerful sounding.

My guess it is going to be $13999-14999.

That's if you can find one.

Even if you can locate a KTM dealer, you will still face this line: "We only carry the off-road bikes, we rarely get the street bikes."

Umm, don't think it's possible for KTM to be considered affordable to general public, the high volume manufacturing and marketing of the Japanese big four fall into that slot
better. KTM has a challenge to keep down to what the Aprilia / Ducati /BMW public would call affordable. Maybe?

Ugly front, ugly rear fender and is that a seat or a wash cloth??

As someone else said, if it weren't ugly it probably wouldn't perform like a KTM, which is, allegedly, very very good.

Fugly! Fugly! Fugly!  I don't like the looks at all.  Sorry, boys, but I couldn't get past that, much less purchase one.

Ada, I kept trying to smash the bug on my screen.  Nice avatar.
