Big Dog Motorcycles continues to stake its claim as the world's largest manufacturer of custom bikes. Take a peek at the 2008 Big Dog Motorcycles - First Look article and let us know what you think of its '08 lineup. My vote for best-looking new Big Dog is the Pitbull. Which bike appeals to the cruiser in you?

nice write up,

good to see that FI is becoming the norm with custom bikes now and it's reduced prices but it's still too high imo.

Funny, tex. Big Dog is starting to grasp that to stay competitive, you've got to set a price that more people can afford. Still, it'd be nice to see something in the $20K range without sacrificing quality. Don't have the formula for cutting costs while maintaining industry standards myself - if I did I'd be a rich man instead of a motojournalist :)

A guy I do work for has one seen it once I guess its his. He only drives it to shows when its very nice out the rest of the time its either sitting or he's working on it from riding it to the show. says he hates it and would never buy another. Looks pretty sitting in his shop!

Nice write up H-1. None have a retro look I look for, but then not everyone knows old school look.. Once there was the non see thru look which was pretty radical in the "day". The frame wasn't stretched and the air gap between the tank and engine was minimal. With the old hard tail frame You could get a lot of different looks and you didn't need air to look thru. A nice long rake made riding hiways plenty easy, and very stable.

I can see it being difficult to make a semi custom as any wanting a custom wants a full blown custom, but it remains the semi custom will be like another semi custom. These guys seem to do a pretty fair job of it to me, and are much better than OCC. Atleast the engineering seems sound.

There are just 2 ways to get a real custom and one is fork over 60 big ones and have it built. The other and a tad more traditional is build it yourself.

With a bike like a Nomad being what they are now in costs, I guess it is fair to have the costs of a semi custom in the low 20's, but they could sell more for less, and get the dough they need better that way.

I have my doubts if I had one that I would get the brain storm to ride it coast to coast and back though.... I can't seee it as that sort of long distance ride. Mighty nice looking though for many models.

So many bikes, and so little memory

Agreed! Thanks Big Dog for the return of the Ridgeback! I own a 2004 Ridgeback and pretty much beat the **it out of it evey chance I get. Approaching 20,000 miles and on the 10th rear tire, this bike loves to be ridden hard.(smokes the hell out of the rear tire even in third gear! I am waiting now on a 08 330!
