Tros said... You can check them out on their website. Nothing too big to report... Are you kidding me? There is huge news. Harley has completely re-done the chassis/swingarm/suspension/wheels on the touring bikes. This should transform them. I can't wait to try out an '09 and see how it now shapes up.
Plus, they have rerouted the headers to take heat away from the rider.
It's certainly a nice improvement, but improving any cruiser's suspenion and chassis to the point where they did, it certainly won't transform the ride. Certainly an improvement.... But nothing that will make people come in droves to get the '09.
The header improvement is a welcome change, but once again, nothing too pivitol, imo. The motor is still going to be a roasty sob.
Don't get me wrong, I like the improvements, and I like Harley Davidsons, but they didn't exactly break the mold with any improvements this year. 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 650R

Started with the 6-speed tranny, 96 c.i. engine, better brakes and available abs, now new chassis/suspension on tourers for 09. Lots of other small improvements also. Let's call it refinement maybe? Still, I'm not going to jump up and trade in my 07... | | Back to Top

Everyone agrees then?
I guess maybe it's in the eye of the beholder...

We traveled to California's wine country and whetted our appetite on the newest motorcycles coming out of the Harley-Davidson camp last week, including a drag run on the '09 V-Rod Muscle and a trip on the '09 Tri Glide. We offer our impressions of Milwaukee's finest in MotorcycleUSA's 2009 Harley-Davidsons - First Ride article. | | Back to Top

nice write up as usual but mid 11 sec. v-rods has been around since intro so nothing new there. i know with the price drops with some of the models (v-rod, fatboy, etc.,), some of the 08' buyers are pissed or going go to be pissed when they find out. | | Back to Top

The 2009 Dyna Super Glide is priced the same as last year at $11,999. The MSRP on the '09 Road King is actually a little down. Last year it was listed at $17,595 - the 2009 model lists for $16,999. Not a significant decrease, but hey, it still dropped, which is a rarity these days.
Desmo - I love the low-rider look of the Street Glide and the way the front fairing and saddlebags slant front to back, but at speed the you're right, you do get it square in the chest. I heard from a couple of other shorter riders (in the 5'8" to 5'10" range) that they catch a lot of windblast on the Ultra Classic, despite its tall windscreen. I'm 6-foot tall, and I never noticed any excessive buffeting, but I guess smaller stature riders sit in the blast zone.
Da Kilha - ain't no good if you f*%# up and nobody sees it. We had it on vid, and Riles got a great shot, so yeah, I'll have me a healthy helping of humility. Harley-Davidson's Paul James jokingly gave me a little business about it at dinner that night. Talk about embarassing - I spun the wheels right in front of Andrew Hines and Eddie Krawiec too. I had my rpm up and went for it though. Gotta be less eager and smoother on my clutch release next time. | | Back to Top
