If any of you neighbors to the south plan on heading North this year why not take a trip to beautiful Merritt, British Columbia July 14th - July 17th for the first annual Great Canadian Bike Rally. We'll be holding a first class rally with our main focus being to raise money for two very deserving Childrens charities: The BC Childrens Hospital, and The Circle Square Ranch Kids Camp. I've been to Merritt, and there are some good roads in the area (as long as you avoid the Coquihalla), but...this looks to be the kind of event I'd go out of my way to avoid. Hope it goes well for ya, just not my cuppa tea.

For those who don't know about Merritt, think hot and dry, with sagebrush and pines on the hills. Cattle country, with cowboys. I'd recommend coming in by way of Highway 8 from Spences Bridge, or 5A from Princeton...the Coquihalla, #5, is a bit straight for my tastes, but it does have some very nice scenery. The town's not much...a few sawmills (one almost right downtown), but should be a good place for a "biker rally."
