Cam Coatney and Kevin Duke have returned from the Yamaha WR press introduction. Here's the story on Yamaha's newest off road machines.

Go ahead, ask me anything.

Hey Guys
Great rewiew (and photos) of the '05 WR's. I have an '04 450 in Australia. It is fully registered with mirrors even. I somehow lost the indicators..... And it is the most awesome dirtbike I have ever had!!.
The '05 sounds great but it lost me on the smaller fuel tank. Only 8 litres (sorry dont do gallons)!!. My '04 is 10 litres and on any decent ride I have to carry fuel. On the positive side, about time Yamaha put a decent pipe on the WRs.
Go the blue bike in the Dakar!!.

Okay, I'm new here, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once.... anyhoo...I bought an 05 WR250F two months ago.  I enjoy it.  I little history;  I also own a 01 YZ 426, that is loaded with off road goodies to make it more friendly for racing.  (Hare Scrambles, Enduros,)  I recently uncorked the 250F, and needless to say, the 426 is for sale.  I love the 426 out West, racing the ISDE Qualifier in Idaho City for example.  But when I moved to the East, it became a Beast.shocked  Tight woods are re-defined here.  So I bought the WR250F, I am a big dude (220# nekid) yet the little bugger pulls well, as long as I keep the revs up after first gear. Motor wise, I have only uncorked it, threw on a FMF SX Powerbomb header, and a Q out back.  I will do a few more things and it'll be a killer woods machine.  As it sits right now, I am already quicker than I was riding the 426, with all the bells and whistles (bout 3200 bux worth).  With the WR I will have the head worked, and the suspension valved and sprung right for my big ol butt.  Need some taller ergos as well, such as taller seat foam and handle bars/risers.  The stock seat foam sucks, (gripper seat cover is great) my butt is still sore from a weekends ride...hmm maybe I sit too much...  With all that being said, I am VERY happy with the WR, I never thought that I'd enjoy a kickstand and electric start so much!!!  Anyone interested in a well maintained, much loved 426?turn
