MotorcycleUSA went international when our very own Duke took the Victory Kingpin Deluxe from the manufacturer's Minnesota HQ up to Canada for a surprise family visit.

Nice story Kevin. I liked the human angle, it must have been fun to drop in on family like that. Could you mention what kind of gear worked for you in the rain? The Victory, indoobibly (look it up), is a nice bike. The prob that I have with these cruisers is the outrageous pricing when you can't point out why they cost so much. Unless they price them by the pound.. People complain when bikes like (for example) the new BMW R1200Rt costs so much - up to $20K fully loaded. With the Victory you'll get some extra chrome and small "hard" bags. With the Beemer, you'll get a much more stable chassis with ABS brakes, power adjustable shield, heated seat and grips, cruise control, electronically adjustable suspension, cd radio, navigation system, much bigger side bags... Aswell as a much faster better handling bike that is still insanely comfortable.
Now, I'm just using BMW and Victory as examples. I own neither. And I can understand why one would be into the cruiser thing, it is a different and fun mellow ride. But there is no way that for so little you should have to pay so much.

I own a Kingpin Deluxe which I paid just under $16,000 for. Of all of my motorcycles it remains my favorite bike. I guess that means I believe the bike is worth the $26 a pound I paid for it :)

Glad you like your Victories. Good thing you paid a lot less than the $20K that Kevin said "his" would retail for with all the farkles...

Thanks, Desmo. The older I get, the more my family means to me. What a treat it was to surprise them with my trip. For the rain, I just slipped a FirstGear rain jacket over my leather jacket and FirstGear pants over my leather pants. They kept me perfectly dry, although I wished I had some Totes to slip over my boots. Harley-Davidson FXRG gloves were more water-resistant than waterproof, but their insulated design kept my hands warm throughout.

ToUtahNow, I'm glad you like your KP Deluxe. It's very charismatic and usually induces conversation. You can get a lot more ground chuck for the dollar than filet mignon, but that cheap price doesn't mean anything to someone who wants a filet.

Thank you for the  story. I found your story about 2 monnths after I bought me KP Deluxe. I have to say that this bike is the new royalty of the road. I took it on a trip with my wife. we covered over 2200 miles in 7 days on the bike. even fully loaded the bike handled great. I am looking forward to maybe a full cross country ride this year. It is nice to pull off the road and I see people come to look at the bike more often than the HD next to it.

I just test rode a KP and a RoadKing at HD in Texoma which now sales both brands and felt the KP was a better bike than the HD. Not that the HD RK was bad, it just didn't have the punch/Torque that the KP had and cost about 4k less than the stock HD. I think with the new improvements in the 2k6 model KP (lean angle issue), the KP is the new "king" of the road.
