I currently own a pretty much stock XR50. All it has are big bars. This bike was purchased for my son, he’s not quite there yet though, so I’ve been….ummm…borrowing it for mini-motard racing at our local go-kart track. I’m going to leave the XR alone though, it’s his afterall. But I’m going to get a mini for myself to continue with the motard racing. I’m seriously considering a Pitster-Pro X2, and upgrading it with an oil cooler rather than the X2R. It’s seems more cost effective and I like the idea of the steel parts rather than aluminum. We fall pretty often. J
I rode a Pitster Pro X2R motard last weekend. My complaints were that the suspension was a little stiff (I’m 130 lbs) and the back brake locked up on me. I never even used the back brake. The dealer that let me ride it just told me that the pedal wasn’t adjusted right, he then readjusted it and it seemed fine again. I’m sure I could soften the suspension as well. Worst case, I could swap for some softer springs. Other than that, the bike was a monster, I was very impressed.
I was wondering how you think this Xtreme stacks up against the Pitster Pro. Also, what brand engine does the Xtreme use?
From reading the review of the Pitster, it seems like it blows this Xtreme away…and for the same money (X2-not R) | | Back to Top

The adjustment screw needs to be monitored because it can move around with vibration. As for whether or not it will blow away the Xtreme, I don't think it would in a SuMo situation. On a motocross track the stiffer suspension will definitely give the Pitster an advantage, but if you're complaining about it being overly stiff anyway, the Xtreme might be better suited to your needs. Also, the drum rear brake was very useful without being overly sensitive.
I didn't ride the X2R and Pro Stock in a back-to-back comparison, but I'd still say the motors felt comparable. There are a couple of motor-related differences that come to mind - the PP has a so-low-it's-unusable 1st gear while the Xtreme's bottom cog is somewhat more applicable, but then the PP starts in gear and the Xtreme does not, also, both bikes have high 4th gears that will likely only work for SuMo and/or a super-light rider which fits your needs perfectly. If the bikes are so comparable in terms of trade-offs, maybe the only thing you need to consider is that according to the website, the X2R is now being sold for $1895 and your desired X2 is temporarily on sale for under $1400. The minor problems seem fairly easy to overcome. Besides, we have a local shop that deals with PP and has a trailer with spares and accessories at the track. | | Back to Top
