I'd rather read a test of a newly available street bike rather than a test of a one-off track bike.
You know, the kind we mere mortals would actually consider buying.
Bah Humbug.
Actually, the ONLY reason I even found this site was because it was one of the first to do a real world test of the F800ST, which, at the time, I had recently purchased...so I know you CAN do it when you want to. | | Back to Top

I knew you guys were doing all right for yourselves but I had no idea you had THAT kind of dough to throw around.
How about a track comparison between this built 1098S and the 1098R! Oh yeah! | | Back to Top

There's a new Mustang GT over at the FOrd dealer for about $30,000. I think I'd go that route first. Or a used Acura TL for $10,000. Or a GSXR for $11,000.
Don't get me wrong, it is a good test and write up, and an essential one. But I get more Ducati reports than I need already from the print mags. In fact, I didn't renew my motorcyclist subscription yesterday after getting my final issue because it's all Ducati, Ducati, Ducati, Ducati, Ducati, Ducati, Ducati, ....... Ducati. I'm just tired of Ducati and I'm starving for more realistic, practical subjects in moto journalism.
I live in a major metro politial area between Milwaukee and Chicago, yet I couldn't find a place to buy and service a Ducati for 50 miles across heavy congestion, in any direction, that I know of. Where do you buy them? What do you do to find service on a Duck??? What if you piss-off your Ducati mechanic?

If that test doesn't do it for you, however, we got the 2008 ZX-14 and Ducati 848 first rides slated for later this week. Patience my pets... patience. | | Back to Top

You do? WOW! I take back ALL the nasty things I've been saying about MCUSA! All o'em.
( I hope it's the matte black and red SE. Now, that's a place I could park $12,000.)

.....not one Japanese bike today that is comparable to an MV or most Ducatis from a design perspective....
I do think Ducati has (why do I suddenly want to start saying 'have'?) some, a lot of, lovely designs from a racing point of view, simple and functional very, very sleek. MV, to me, though obviously very beautiful, looks more highly styled and less Ducati or Guzzi italian than japanese. The japanese styling is possibly over-familiar. There are so many different models that they tend to run together, but they're pretty nice, generally. What do you think of the Orange over Black 2007 GSX-R1000 or the Shift Red FZ1? I think they're stunners. The new 'busa is a wowser, too. I can understand if someone didn't like the ZX-14 pictured above, it is a little over the top, but it's an over-the-top time. That's the one my wife keeps urging me to go buy.
It's just that I can't use Ducatis, for the reasons I expressed, and I think they're over-emphasized with respect to their share of the marketplace. MCUSA does a great job reporting on the Ducks, keep it up. It isn't that, Ducatis just aren't interesting to me because I don't want to abuse myself with the thought of buying one.
I'll shut up now and let the thread resume. Sorry. | | Back to Top

I mad my wife's 695 came with a slipper clutch, and my twice-as-expensive 1098 didn't. | | Back to Top
