Though its better known as the producer of kick-ass off road motorcycles, KTM has had superbike fans waiting anxiously for the release of its newest land rocket, the 2008 RC8. Here's a peek at the first ride impressions from MCN's Jane Omorogbe.

Interesting impressions. It sounds like it has a few issues to be worked out (gearbox, fueling) and it does not seem that it makes the claimed powah.
Guess we'll see how it really stacks up when it's tested over here. Looks killer, and the apparent availability of options sounds great.

p.s go Osterreich! Woo hoo!

Wouldn't a potential buyer be thinking "what's it going to be, KTM 1190 V-twin or Ducati 1098 V-four?".

If that is the choice, the KTM sounds like a down on power, up on vibration, agriculture gear box, oddity.

Course if the choice between a KTM and a Buell,  Then the KTM would be the winner.

nice write up,

little too expensive when compare to other available sportbikes out there but it's good to see new competition.

Umm, Lou, buddy.  The 1098 is a twin.

Oh well, it that case blush ,lol  The Ducati compares even better, it's only a twin and doesn't get the complaints that the KTM  and fo sho the Buell have.

I must say that's a pretty darn hot bike.  KTM is just plowing into new categories by the day (their quads are pretty darn appealing as well).

Nice write up.

For $20,000+ that was far from a positive review IMO.

Disappointing really, I, along with the tester, were obviously expecting more.

What was interesting was that the other review that I read was positively glowing. IMO this makes this review all the more believable.

Wait till the rumored in 2010 KTM V-4 comes out for $60,000, seems no one want's the American dollar much any more :-(

(he says so giddy-ly, since he doesn't want some other bike)
