Suzuki enters the classicly-styled heavyweight motorcycles foray with the newest entry in its Boulevard line, the 2008 Suzuki C109R. Check out our initial impressions of the new cruiser in our First Ride article.

Eh.. nasty gas tank seam and painted plastic cover piece from the gas tank to the forks cheapens the look. It's the detailing that counts when you step up to this level. How much plastic chrome is on this thing? The 109r had plenty. It seems that Yamaha leads the way in fit/finish/detailing out of the Japanese cruisers.
I was curious about this statement:
"The electronic fuel injection system on the C109R provided seamless delivery and I experienced no glitches during my time in the saddle. This is no surprise since it's equipped with Suzuki's Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) system."

The M109R runs the same system (correct me if I'm wrong) and the production versions provide anything but seamless delivery.

Not my cup of tea.  I agree with Desmo, one of the big complaints I have with Suzuki is their build quality.  It was evident at the motorcycle show in Ft. Worth, TX when you could see the product of all major vendors side-by-side.

I wonder how much they are actually selling the 109 big cruisers for?

Suzuki...Poor build quality? Suzuki sportbikes kick ass in performance and fit and finish. Interesting....

I don't think any manufacturer has poor quality. It's all in the way they feel like doing it. As for looks, I like it. I like all makes and models. Motorcycles to me are all aesthetically pleasing. It depends on what you like. This bike is to big for me but for other people it may be just right. I've had Suzukis,Yamahas,Hondas & Kawasakis and i've liked every one of them. I've also never had a really bad problem with any of them either.

Hey, Desmo, I can't really comment as to the real-world performance of past M109Rs because I haven't ridden one. Would like to, but haven't had the chance yet. What I was thinking, though, is that the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve System is used in the GSX-R1000 as well (the bike that swept the AMA Superbike podium yesterday).

The main difference between the C109R and the M109R is the size of the throttle bodies. The C109R's are 52mm, the M109R's 56mm. Suzuki was hoping to get more low end from the C109Rs smaller arrangement.

As far as the time I spent on the big cruiser, fuel delivery was never a question. Throttle response was lively, the engine ran smooth, and during our tenure on the bike the engine was definitely one of the bike's strong points.

Yah Harley Suzuki rocked yesterday at Superbike but I'm pretty sure those bikes don't have to worry about fueling issues because they don't need to meet emmissions requirements!

I like it better than the M109R and that weird head light cover.
