Honda releases its all-new entry into the side-by-side market: The 2009 Honda Big Red. MotoUSA puts it through its paces on the island of Catalina.

Is that the new VFR?...
Isn't this the big year that Honda promises every year?

I'm sure this is a nice machine. Honda just builds the best build, most reliable and durable bikes, in my opinion. But, I don't like the looks of it; especially the front.  The second thing I don't like is that it is way too wide.  Here in the Midwest with wall to wall trees everywhere, it probably won't go down most ATV trails.  The 60 inch wide Rangers are too bulky for most riding.  I wish Honda would produce their version of the Polaris RZR.  It's 50 inch width is narrow enough that it is truly a trail friendly machine.  It's nice too that it's really fast.  I test drove one and it would lift the front wheels off the ground on take off.  I've been considering one, even though I swore I'd never buy another Polaris.

I wish Honda would truly follow their motto of "Performance First".

No, you can't miss the VFR. It's the bike that just blew past your POS.

It would if it weighed less than my sport bike and made more power.  But it's fatter and weaker so it won't.

I went to the dealership on Friday and the Big Red is HUGE!  There is no way it would go down most trails.  For that kind of money, I'd buy a used jeep that is street legal, will haul 4 people, tows much more, and comes with heater and AC.  The Big Red was obviously well built, but it's way too big.

Gagster, wouldn't it be awesome if Honda came out with some form of RZR/Odyssey?
