Its supposed to rain today and be 100 degrees.
I needed some inspiration sorta speak. This should do nicely.

My theory... The 800cc Duc is developed out - done. Honda and Yamaha had headroom in their designs (and they had the money to extract the remaining 5-10%) and these last 800cc seasons belong to the big two Japanese corporations. It's impossible for Ducati to build next years 1000cc bike at the same time as trying to keep their 800cc bike competitive in its last year.

I think that Ducati have accepted that the 2011 final 800cc season is a lost cause and are concentrating on a return to strength in 2012 with the new 1000cc bike. Rossi has been running the 800cc motor in the 1000cc chassis at race practice to develop that chassis in anticipation for next year as his rivals duke it out at the front on their perfected 2011 800cc bikes. That alone speaks volumes - using race practice to test and refine next years bike is not standard operating procedure!

It's crazy for a small Italian company to waste all their resources on the last 800cc season when Yamaha and Honda are throwing money at their teams to try and clinch the championship and they still have money left to develop their 1000s.

Also, everyone loves a comeback - both for Rossi and Ducati - next year will be interesting...

Rainey Doohan 1991. I had Rainey replica helmet just like his. Always wanted a doohan rep,but I was a broke teenager. Great pic. Had to be early in the race,
notice the scuff mark on Micks nsr just below the N in honda. Same with Raineys under the B&O in marlboro. By the end of the race there were holes.
I was neve a huge Rainey fan, always was a Schwantz fan. But the effectiveness of the ysr500 did have an influence on my first roadbike,1989 fzr 600r,
Rode it everywhere for 3 years.
One more for one of the eternal greats of the greatest gp erea of anytime imho. Ran the marlboro team from 1994 to 1998 while in a
wheelchair,red blooded racer here folks.

Racer,I agree but I think rossi and company are at a crossroads with the development of the 1000 chassis. His bike ,imho, doesnt look like its handling

any better, with addition of the supposedly much more powerful 1000cc motor hes going to have his hands full if the bike doesnt want to slow down

and turn in well. We will see if his development of next years bike is on the right track later today,as Hayden gets the gp11.1 today for the race.

Its a smart move to move forward and scrap the 2011 season for 2012. Winning a title in the last year of a race formula isnt as impressive as winning

it for the year of a new formula.IMHO  Everybodys starting fresh, however if Ducati get d!cked next year, its embarrassing,no two ways about it.
