Cool, where at? Let us know how it goes. And how savage are the savages he is going up against.  blush    Disregard the questions, I just clicked the article, and got the answers.

For now, let's just say we didn't bring home any trophies... Stay tuned for the conclusion.

Keep the reports coming. These NSRs are an absolute blast! The initial purchase price is high, but, otherwise inexpensive fun. Let us know the success of your mods.

Just so you all know, I've filed a report from my first race weekend on the NSR: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Article_Page.aspx?ArticleID=1693&Page=1

On January 8-9, we'll be heading to Willow Springs for CMRRA's first race of the 2005 season. The club responded to the introduction of the NSR by changing the rules for the Formula 50 class to keep some of the more modified air-cooled machines and four-strokes out, hence giving a more even playing field for stock NSRs. They now must race in the Formula GP class in which the NSR is also legal but can be run in modified form.

Stay tuned as we continue on our mini adventure!

Sadly, dismal weather in SoCal has forced the cancellation of this weekend's CMRRA races at Willow Springs. We'll  be back at it next month.

Kevin,
I enjoyed reading your article.  I finally purchased an '04 NSR50R last December at $1000 off MSRP.
Good luck at Willows Springs and let us all know the outcome.
Join or come check us out at Stockton, CA this year.
Race schedule:
Race 1 • Feb. 20
Race 2 • March 20
Race 3 • April 17
Race 4 • May 15
Race 5 • June 12
Race 6 • July 17
Race 7 • Aug. 14
Race 8 • Sept. 11
Race 9 • Oct. 16 (2 hour endurance race)
The club's name is SMRRC (or http://www.in2higear.com) and in its 2nd year.

Well, this is embarrasing. It turns out that the race at Willow Springs was postponed, not cancelled! I had put in a call to race organizers for clarification but didn't hear back from them, so I missed the season-opener. Worse, the race on Feb 6 conflicts with travel plans, so I'll miss that one, too! Looks like my championship hopes are being dashed, but that doesn't mean I'm giving up. Look for more updates on Project NSR, including some modifications to the little chain saw.

SecN8ure, thanks for the update on what's happening in mini roadracing around Stockton. I'll be away on travel again during your first race of the season, but I'll keep the SMRRC in mind for future dates. The 2-hour endurance race in October sounds like fun. Until the next time, keep the rubber-side down...
