Once again Motorcycle USA turns to our editor at large, Neale Bayly, for a descriptive piece on his recent trip down to the Florida Keys. Check out Sir Neale's Harley-Davidson Baggers to the Keys then, as always, let us know what you think.

I love the shot of the copper-colored bike by the sea. Fantastic story!

I am the foremost expert on my opinion.

Nice ride report. Especially if you live in a cold climate and you've not had much chance to ride for months.

But I'd really like to hear about that Road King. I'm thinking about the RK as my new bike this year and would love to hear from someone with some serious seat time.

Very nice, sometimes it's just cool to chill and cruise.

Next time take Card Sound Road and stop at Alabama Jacks just before the Bridge that takes you to the UPPER keys, from there you start to go south to the Key West area, also mid September is Petterson H-D famous poker run for Diabetic children. The town of Key West gives it up to us bikers, they could not stop us and finally they realised it's Hurricane season anyway, not many yuppie rich tourists so let the bikes rule, they have cracked down on the loud pipes which is good. That boys-girls is the time to see the infamous KEY WEST LIFE STYLEor if you dare Halloween for the parade of alternate lifestyles and rioteous fun.

PS..if you can' thandle rain...sell your bike and play cards.

depends on what your definition of cruise is!

nah, when I've rented Harleys, I just dig the cruise and move over for faster vehicles.

Man; all of that looks like some fun.

Nice arcticle. I test rode a FLH (same frame/engine as the RK) and found the vibration of the bike to be bothersome at slow speeds. I know once you get rolling (above 20mph) it smooths out, but wondered how you felt riding in the busy traffic of Miami with the bike shaking like it does?

Thanks!

Kevin...

I haven't been to the Keys in 25 yrs but it doesn't look like things have changed much and that's a good thing. We used to head down there a lot when I lived in Ft. Lauderdale. What a relaxing kicked back place. Great story it took me way back.

May have been something with that specific bike.  The ones I've ridden smooth out almost immediately after moving off.  For lots of peeps, the "vibes" are part of the appeal.

hi, some more info....all along the way down from the main land cross over via either US1 or Card Sound Road ...as you travel south ...there are Many-Many saloons for bikers, the Tiki Hut ( highly recomended for a swim and beer and bikini) curio shops, coch republic shops( the keys consider themselves free from the USA and call the land -islands-keys...they inhabit "The Conch Republic" named for the meaty-tasty conch shell.Dive (suba shops) abound, glass bottom boat rides-snorkel, dolfin swims, natural beauty in state parks......all this and more ..it's not just about Key West...of course the drive and the bridges...to see the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico meeting ...well......just beautiful....one more if you are with someone special, there's a sail boat dinner at sunset...very eligante , romantic , reasonable price...see photo
