Motorcycle USA is packing up its bags and heading to Nevada for the 26th Annual Laughlin River Run to get its fill of custom shows, bikini contests and jammin' live music. Anybody else headed that way? Are there any events we haven't listed that you know of that we shouldn't miss? We want to hear from you.

My barber just got back from it w/ her hubby. They said it was dead compared to previous years. Everyone was complaining about the economy and price of gas.
Look like Harley1 had fun though! I think he spent the majority of his report writing about the bikini contest...

All right, Desmo, you got me. You know when I cover those bikini contests, it's all just for you, the readers, right? LOL

Attendance did seem to be down, but it was the same at Daytona. A reflection of the times, unfortunately. I rode our Sprinter Van from Medford, OR to the event. The van uses diesel and needless to say, it did cost a small fortune to get there.

We'll have to wait until Sturgis to see if there are going to be lower attendance figures across the board. I'm certain it will be affected as well.

Regardless, I still had a great time. Got to do some riding around the local area which I didn't get to do last year. The desert is rugged but definitely has a beauty all its own. Got to visit the historic mining town of Oatman, AZ while I was there which was a real treat. Like traveling back in time a 100 years.

Two deaths when a moto crossed the double yellow and impacted another moto is all that was reported in the paper.

Harley1, what was packed in the Sprinter van? Oatman is great, I love riding the AZ backroads...
FYi the Sprinter van is about the best way to cart around bikes. Low load floor, high ceiling plus great diesel mileage compared to the rivals. I'd like to get one but have no idea what I'd do with it when I'm not using it! (which would be most of the time).

p.s. good work on the bikini coverage (or lack of!). Nice of you to man up for that assignment!

Hey Desmo,

I had the Ducati 848 loaded into the Sprinter Van and dropped it off in the Bay Area at Ducati North America. In Laughlin I picked up a factory custom bike, the 2008 Big Dog Pitbull, which I am testing now.

Yeh, I love the Sprinter Van. It gets surprisingly good gas mileage and powers over the Siskiyou Summit between California and Oregon. We've got a rockin' stereo system in it so the miles go by fairly quickly. It also can hold 4 sportbikes easily in the cargo area so we don't have to pull a trailer all the time on our trips down to LA.

Nice. That lack of trailer also means you can legally go faster on the freeway. Handles better w/o it too.
Put some miles on the Big Dog so we can see how those trailer queens hold up in real use, whydontcha? ;)
