Yamaha gave the public a peek at a partial lineup of its 2009 motorcycles today, including the full '09 V Star line in addition to introducing its new 500cc scooter, the TMax. Check out the Japanese manufacturers assortment of mid-to low-displacement cruisers and scooters in the 2009 Yamaha Early Model Release article.

This is the most early I have ever seen a make of m/c advertised, though when they are on the floor might be another thing?  Bet you they will NOT be on the floor till sometime in '09 like possibly Feb to March for some.

Seems like Yamaha is out to sell its touring bikes along with some of its newer scooters, but for the extra engine size & bit more max speed, the fuel economy is not that exciting.  I get better on a '97 Yamaha YZF 600f then they do in the two largest two scooters they are offering.  True a scooter is different to a sportbike in riding & no storage space on a sportbike.

I look at it this way that my Subaru Forester mini-SUV is a 'must' for larger purchases of goods & especially winter time, not to mention colder weather to rain & such.  Like I have only clocked 1,500 Kilometers since start of '08 though must admit that I suffered with a broken hip in Nov. 29th '07 that delayed me a while.  Even the Yamaha 600r is not that ideal for riding as we have had a rotten Spring & here it is almost Summer & we have been hit with a lot of rain to even snow at higher altitueds.  Even Red Dog has to admit that snow is NOT ideal.

So when it comes to riding two wheels the Yamaha 600r is darn close to the two top scooters when it comes to mpg though have to admit that often it will be the bike I will ride rather then the Honda 929 or 954 (though all get equal time on the hwys---possibly I will aim at the Honda 929 & 954 for longer runs on the mountain hwys) AND the Honda 929 or 954 are not riden to see the doctor, the hospital, the bank or such.  They are strictly for FUN riding on the mountain roads.

Remember all the others on the road are crazy & out to kill you.

I followed the link to the Star website promising the 2009 model lineup. It isn't there. Just some of the smaller cruisers. No Royals, Raiders, Roads or 'liners.

I'm not a huge scooter guy, but I really like the Zuma, and I really like that they put that lil' 125 in it. Great combo, imho

Jay, all the '09 stuff Star has unveiled thus far is the V Star lineup and VMAX. Those other bikes, if there are any changes, will come later.

Uh...isn't it just a Virago 250 with a different name?

yep, it is.  kind of like when the virago 1100 became the v-star 1100 and i would say the same about the 250 even if the name stay 'virago' as appose to v-star.  i had a virago 750 and it was just as enjoyable to ride as any of my other bikes.
