Ok I read the newsletter, so what is the problem?
Websters definition #2 might seem to be a problem if the definition is taken literally.

So far so good, got about 2000 miles on the Chief. The Indian certianly draws alot of attention, even from non-bikers. I've found the turn signal blinkers on the dash are difficult to see in bright sunlight, so I have to be careful remembering to cancel them (see pic). Plan on putting some Synthetic oil in the engine at 2500 miles with a fresh filter. I'll post how that goes as it looks like an oil line partially blocks the filter.

Installed a Kruzer Kaddy so I can bring my coffee on my early morning (4am) rides into work. Bought a motorcycle lift a Harbor Freight for maintenance activities and white wall cleaning.
Also found one of the Gilroy Indian chrome horn covers that's a direct bolt on, so I bought taht of Ebay.

I haven't seen a bike with self-cancelling blinkers for a long time.  I think my 92 Virago had them, and I know my 83 Maxim, 84 ZN700 and 82 Spectre had them.  But neither my 01 Thunderbird nor my 08 Scrambler nor my wife's 01 Intruder 800 have self-cancelling signals.

Not sure why but it seems like some time in the mid-90's, MC manufacturers stopped putting self cancelling signals on bikes.

Does anyone make a current bike with self cancelling signals?  I'm not aware of one but there may be some out there.  Gold Wing maybe?

When my fuel level goes low, a low fuel light comes on and begins counting miles. I'd like something similar for the turn signal, the computer should see the circuit acivated and if still active signal a warning to cancel. My Cadillac does this I'm sure its a simple thing to set-up.

Don't most HD's have self canceling blinkers now?

Harleys have self-cancelling turn signals and victorys do to. I still manually turn them off but some times I will leave them on just to make sure that feature still works.  I could careless if the bike had them or not.

My Nomad has self-canceling blinkers too. They calculate time and distance & turn off, but what they can't do is actually tell if you've turned.

I generally turn them off myself.

I like the time & distance deal.

It has a tip-over switch too. If you drop the bike it'll shut off the engine instantly.

So why can't they have a switch that tells if you turned?

Here's NASCARs Ron Hornaday with his new Indian Chief Vintage and the story.

KINGS MOUNTAIN, NC---Ron Hornaday, three time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion and twice voted most popular driver, recently took delivery of his 2009 Indian Chief Vintage at Indian Motorcycle Charlotte, the first Indian dealer in the nation. Chris Bernauer, general manager of Indian Motorcycle Company and Mark Moses, owner and general manager of Indian Motorcycle Charlotte, were on hand to congratulate the new owner on his choice.

"As a popular, respected and very successful race driver, Ron Hornaday could have any bike he wants. We're thrilled that he chose the Indian Chief", said Chris Bernauer. Mark Moses had an additional perspective "We met Ron Hornaday a short time ago, but it became clear very quickly that he is a personable, passionate man who loves fast cars and motorcycles, just like us. We are honored to call him our customer and friend."

Ron Hornaday's top-of-the-line black & burgundy Vintage was built to his specifications and features optional painted rims, black leather saddlebags and seat with fringed leather. Hornaday said "This is one beautiful bike and I'm looking forward to getting out and doing some riding. I've owned lots of motorcycles over the years, but this one is very special...a great combination of power and classic design. " Hornaday mentioned that one of his favorite photos is that of his father seated on an Indian Chief, just before he sold it to go into the Army. (Ron Hornaday Sr. was himself a racing legend in the West Coast Stock Car Racing community who passed away just before Christmas last year.)
