My 125 Zuma, <1 year old, often won't start. It's been to the dealer. The dealer blames it on the 10% ethanol. The dealer rebuilt the carb. I picked it up last week after paying for the repair. Rode it several miles from home. Would not start again. Walked back.
I noticed that when it won't start there is no "humming" sound from the engine compartment. I've been told that is the sound of the fuel pump. Makes sense. No fuel pump. No fuel. It seems odd though that the problem is intermittent.
Before I jump up and down and freak out at the dealer, I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this problem?

Apparently the Zuma has a known fuel pump problem. Here is a thread that references it on a scooter forum.

There are a bunch of things wrong here:

1/ Your bike has a 1 year warranty.  If it is still under warranty this is a warranty issue.
2/ Your bike has fuel injection.  IT DOES NOT HAVE A CARB!!!  If the dealer says they rebuilt your carb, they are lying to you.  They just took your money.
3/ There is a known issue with the fuel pump.  When you turn the key you should hear it prime, as you have said you have done.  If you do not hear it prime, the bike will not start.  There is the problem.
4/ I would call Yamaha customer service if you do not get any satisfaction (after speaking to the shop manager to give him a chance to explain himself and the 'carb' comments, maybe give you a refund)

Remember if your bike is under warranty they need to refund the money you gave them for their 'work'.
