Amazing value for the money compared to a comparable BMW.

I own a BMW ST, but no one makes a comparable under 500lb purpose built ST.

If I was looking for a 200lb heavier ST, this would be right near the top.

As much as I hate electronic geegaws, (after a bad experience with a poorly sorted ABS system on a BMW), only $700 to add two position ABS with built in traction control is amazing.

I think a large bike like this can definitely benefit from both.

I'm very impressed that Kawi made all these changes after only 2 years on the market. Looks like a winner if you want a bike that big.
I just don't get why these ST bikes (Yam, ST13, C14 etc) have to be so bulky.

agree and not just the beemer, it's overall value is also better the other main competitors too (st1300 and fjr) although the fjr is a close second imo.

Just don't understand why it is so heavy, Saddle bags, shaft drive, can that add up to 150 lbs over the ZX-14?

Weight feeds on it's self. A chassis or engine casing that was strong enough for less Horse Power or less weighty component has to be built heavier to do heavier duty with and increased work load.

These bikes aren't too heavy because of the manufacturer's not making them as light as they can be for the price of the materials used. For a sorta kinda related example. A full on totally sponsored race bike is lighter than a race replica on the show room floor.

Difference being the fully sponsored race bike is a cost is no object product. The mass produced to sell to people that don't know what they are getting, and deciding to get brand A or brand B on the price they have to pay, is forcing the manufacturer to make the bike as cheaply as they can, and still have a product that competes with the other brand.

Anyone that isn't just giddy that they can buy what they can for the price they have to pay for it.... Feel free to do it yourself, see how well that turns out  lol

Connie to heavy?  compared to what?  These GT bikes to heavy? Get a liter Race replica  bike and make the conversions that change it the way you want.

Red Dog tours on his GIXXR, I toured (a ride that went 4 1/2 months long) On my 1100 GIXXR,  I can ride my ZX-10 all day long day after day.

All depends on what you want.  It is out there, if you lift a finger to taylor what comes closest on the show room floor.

I don't understand how a touring or sport touring motorcycle can be marketed without self canceling turn signals. ABS, heated grips, all that K-Kwack crap, etc., but no S. C. T. S.s? Balooney.

My 1983 GS1100E has a fabulous self cancelling system, so it's not high tech. They just don't care.

I hear you Jay.  Not having the self-cancelling signals makes as much sense as my Goldwing not having an electrically adjustable windshield. TG, I don't get the weight issue either. So much of the Connie is the same as the Ninja it's not even funny: tank, forks, brakes darn near the whole thing. They (Kawi) even list the Connie's weight on the spec sheet as without saddlebags, so they are actually even heavier than posted.

I have to believe there is a longer list of additions.

I'll take a wild guess, add up all the features that the "touring" types wanted on there, and magically the weight number comes out right.

As 16 yr old I thought an Indian or HD 45SV V-twin was to much for my liking & ONE of many reasons I shifted to British irons.
