On a sport bike, wanna pass, no problem, wanna merge, piece of cake. On a scooter your like a one legged squirrel in a forest fire, trying not to be trampled by all the other animals attempting to escape . It takes twice the situational awareness on a scooter just to stay alive. On the 14 and all other bikes I ride, I wave to all scooters, most likely they wonder why they deserve the respect. Rode Rage another matter from cagers which we endure.

In some respects; you're spot on. I think any of us who ride on two wheels are pretty ballsy.

It's true, my nards are at their biggest on my Vespa, shrink to their smallest on the Harley...

Fag!

Couldn't resist...still channeling last night's South Park.

My first bike was not a scooter but a 4 speed 49cc Honda in Belgium...so I can relate.

Of course, that was in a country where such small things were common...gotta believe a 50cc scooter could be a bit hairy should you find yourself on a road with a limit above 35mph.

Desmo, please accept my apology for using that word on you twice.

I promise not to do it again...really.

Only time one found a sticker on my comp m/c(s) it would be because that firm was sponsoring me.  It not then NO stickers & same with my street irons.

I probably have a maze of them I use to give away to newbies or kids waiting a few more yrs till they could ride.

Wants HER scoot back!!!! Didn't you pay for it. So much for saving wear and tear on the 1400's tires.

Have lost count on the 14's tires but well exceed the cost of the scooter. she also paid for the scooter out of her pocket. Just put up the original cost. I get to ride it this winter though.

Time for you to order this:

http://www.americanmopeds.com/scooters-mopeds-50cc-150cc-180cc-250cc/moped-150cc-phantom.html

Sportier and cheap. Of course you'll have to do some assembly required and do a thorough check for loose nuts and bolts  but people I know have had good luck with these things.

I am not putting Cotton Mouth squished spade stickers on the scoot. FG1 says no skulls, it's not a skull bike, now I gotta do it.

Not so brave or stupid Ed. When I'm out on the 150 I always have plenty of road shoulder to dive on to. That scares the cars more than it does me.

My buddy in Miami who can choose between a Jeep, a Mercedes 320, a BMW boxer 650, a Ducati 696, a Vespa 150 or a Vespa 50 says, that there, the best commute vehicle by far is the 50!

Here it wouldn't have enough grunt...but the 150 would probably work fine.

No, I think it's 15 miles.

I forgot, he also rides a bicycle on his commute sometimes...they have a path right under the metrorail so it is safe.

15 mile commute...I think he cheats and lane splits a bit on his Vespa even though not legal in FLA.

If I was still living in New York City the Bashan would be the perfect Urban Assault Vehicle. Traffic rarely got above 50 mph and was incredibly heavy. Sometimes it took you 15 minutes to drive around the block. The last time I visited the place Vespas were running around like ants at a picnic.

Ants regularly get stepped on.

I rode to school & back on a Lambretta 150 back in the early 70's. It would barely pull 45 MPH going over the mountains. On the (level) freeway you could keep it at 55 if there wasn't a headwind.

That bike was a toad, and I have to believe that a modern 150cc is far faster & more nimble.

I do recall taking all the body work off to repaint it, and while the bike was "naked" I took it around a dirt track, hopping it off the ground over berms & stuff. It was lots of fun but limited ground clearance kept me out of the deep stuff.

Nowdays I don't think I'd ride one on a bet.
