Howdy,

Regarding using motorcycles for courier/delivery services:

I see a few delivery/courier services in California using motorcycles and several in Europe. Have any of you tried it or looked into it ? I'm trying to contact one in CA but my calls are not returned yet (I'm in Houston, Texas).

- I have found reasonable business insurance coverage for my bike (no employees, me only)
- I have found a bond, "Dis-Honesty Bond", so that I can be "licensed, insured and bonded", in the yellow-pages or whatever else ... you get the idea.

Any thoughts, experience, suggestions ... ?

"party on",

I used to work for a graphic design/production firm. The owner used a local independent TAXI driver for local deliveries.

Why not approach a few small businesses that might need (small) stuff carried around - law/tax firms, grahics/sign companies (for taking proofs, etc to customer). Set up an appointment. Have in hand/mind a per mile rate or a per package rate. You'll have to make quite a few phone calls to get a bite, but if you start with independent small businesses you just might find interest. Don't think it would be self-supporting at first, but if you're professional and prompt word of mouth will get out - don't quit your "day" job.

You might look for companies that advertise their "green" business practices. If you can demonstrate that by using you, they'd save on carbon emissions over a car courier - lower miles per gallon for an mc - that could be yet another selling point.

Give it a shot! Best of luck.

War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children.
